CONCRETE COATINGS
An epoxy floor is only as good as its grip on the slab underneath. Most floor failures aren’t the topcoat letting go of itself — they’re the whole system peeling off concrete it never properly bonded to.
PRIMIT E6-111 is what stops that. It’s thin enough to soak into porous concrete rather than sitting on top of it, so the epoxy above is keyed into the slab instead of resting on it.
PRIMIT E6-111 is the base coat for the Indopox and Polyurit systems. It also works under epoxy mortar and levelling compounds, and on its own as a dust-proofer for a slab you don’t want to fully coat.

This is the important one, and the page used to say the opposite.
PRIMIT E6-111 is not a damp-proof membrane, and it will not fix a wet slab. If the concrete is holding moisture, primer and everything above it will lift — usually in blisters, usually a few weeks after you thought the job was finished.
Test the slab before you prime. Tape a square of plastic sheet down on all four sides, leave it overnight, and lift it in the morning. Condensation underneath, or a dark patch on the concrete, means the slab is still releasing moisture, and it isn’t ready.
Newly poured concrete needs 28 days minimum, and longer in winter.
A 16 L kit covers around 128 m² at 8 m² per litre.
That figure moves more than it does with a topcoat, because a penetrating primer soaks in. A dense power-trowelled slab takes less; an open, ground or porous slab takes considerably more. Budget for extra on old or rough concrete.

Mix with a drill and paddle, not a stick, and scrape the sides and the bottom of the bucket as you go.
Two hours of pot life is generous for an epoxy, which suits a primer — you’re usually covering a big area in one go, and you don’t want to be mixing every twenty minutes. It still halves on a hot slab, so don’t treat two hours as guaranteed in February.
Prime and coat in the same window. Get the topcoat on while the primer is still chemically active and you get a bond between the two, not just adhesion. Leave it too long and the primer skins over and has to be abraded before anything else goes on. Check the recoat window for whichever system you’re using.
Don’t over-apply it. A primer is meant to soak in, not build a film. Flood a dense slab with it and the excess sits on the surface as a glossy layer, which is exactly the weak point you were trying to avoid. If it’s pooling, it’s too much — spread it out.
Etch with ConEtch, one part to three parts water. Wet the slab first, then apply, agitate with a stiff broom, and leave it 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly until the run-off runs clear.
ConEtch is acidic. Gloves and eye protection, and keep the run-off out of garden beds and stormwater drains.
Then check it with the water drop test. Tip a little water onto the slab in several spots. If it soaks in within a minute or so and darkens the concrete, the surface is open and ready. If it beads, the etch hasn’t got through — that area needs grinding.
Then let it dry completely, and do the plastic sheet test above before you open the tin.
VOC is 560 g/L and the flash point is 28°C. This is a solvent-rich product — the most solvent-heavy thing in the range.
Use a respirator with organic vapour cartridges, not a dust mask. Keep air moving through the space while you apply it and while it dries, and keep it away from any ignition source. Clean up with xylene.
