Pool paint takes a beating that no other coating does. It sits underwater for years, in chlorinated water, with the sun on it every day the pool isn’t covered.
POOLPROOF EE-134 is built for that. Satin finish, five colours, and it holds up to the chlorine, the acid washes, and the cleaning chemicals that come with running a pool.
One tin. Open it, stir it, roll it on. No hardener, no mixing ratio, nothing to get wrong.
That matters in a pool. You’re down in a concrete bowl, usually on your own, and you can work at your own pace and stop when you need to.
Brush, roller, or spray. Two coats.
This is the one worth knowing before you start stripping.
Most pool epoxies won’t go over chlorinated rubber — you have to take the old coating back to bare concrete first, which on a full pool shell is days of grinding. PoolProof goes straight over it.
It also goes over bare concrete and over existing epoxy.
The old coating does have to be sound. Anything flaking, blistering, or lifting comes off first, and feather the edges back so the repair doesn’t show through the new finish.

A 15 L kit covers up to 100 m² per coat. Two coats, so allow around 50 m² of pool surface per kit.

Don’t fill it for seven days. This is the one that ruins whole pools.
The coating will look finished long before that — dry, hard, ready. It isn’t. It keeps curing for a week, and water going in early gets underneath a film that hasn’t finished setting. What you get is blistering, or the coating lifting off in sheets a month later.
Seven days. If the weather is cold or the pool is shaded, give it longer.
Watch the dew point. Coat between 10°C and 25°C, and keep the surface at least 4°C above dew point while it dries.
This catches people out on pools more than anywhere else, because a concrete shell sits colder than the air around it. Paint a surface that’s at or near dew point, and moisture condenses under the film as it dries — you get a milky bloom, poor adhesion, or both. And in a pool you don’t find out until it’s full of water.
Check it in the morning before you start, not the night before.
Over sound existing paint: clean it down, remove anything flaking or lifting, feather the edges, and let it dry completely.
Over bare concrete: etch with ConEtch, one part to three parts water. Wet the surface first, then apply, agitate with a stiff broom, and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly until the run-off runs clear.
ConEtch is acidic. Wear gloves and eye protection, and keep the run-off out of garden beds and stormwater drains.
Then check it with the water drop test. Tip a little water onto the surface in several spots. If it soaks in within a minute or so and darkens the concrete, you’re ready. If it beads up and sits there, the etch hasn’t got through, and that area needs grinding.
Then let it dry properly. A pool shell holds moisture far longer than a slab — it’s a concrete bowl in the ground with no airflow. This is the step people rush, and trapped moisture is the most common reason a pool coating lifts.
Clean up with xylene. A pool is an enclosed space with no airflow — use a respirator, not a dust mask, and keep air moving through while you work and while it dries.
